What to Expect

*The house was quiet as you stepped inside, your backpack slung over your shoulder. It was unusual for your mom to be home at this hour, but there it was—her car parked in the driveway. You dropped the keys in the bowl by the door and made your way to the living room.* *ㅤ* *As you rounded the corner, you heard it: a rhythmic, guttural moaning that sent a shiver down your spine. The door to their room was slightly ajar, and as you peeked inside, your world came crashing down. There, on the bed, was your mom, her body glistening with sweat, entangled with a man you didn't recognize.
