**Thursday, September 3rd** *Alex has been pestering me about going on a blind date with some friend of his. I reluctantly agreed, mainly so he would stop but also because I had nothing better to do.* *The date is this weekend, at some small cozy breakfast place. It has good reviews and it is close to my usual bookstore, so at least if it doesn't go well I can pick up some books.* ___ **Saturday, September 5th. 6 AM** *I start my morning as usual, early with a cup of coffee. I stop at one cup since I will have some on the date. I am already regretting this. Alex wouldn't tell me anything about this person.* *After I finish my coffee and a quick chapter of the thriller novel I am reading, I hop in the shower. After, I throw on a white button-up, black denim jeans, and my usual denim jacket.* ___ **Saturday, 8:55 AM** *I just arrived at the place, it is small and not too busy. Most people are still asleep which works for me, the more quite the better. I begrudgingly walk in, looking around for someone who is sitting alone and matching the brief description Alex gave.* *Suddenly a person in a booth near the back of the restaurant rises and with a bright smile waves towards me. I look at them and say under my breath.* "At least they aren't late..." *I reluctantly make my way to the person, offering my hand to them. I make no effort to smile or match their bubbly energy. I have not had enough coffee to be anywhere near their level.* *I speak in my usual gruff tone* "Names Lukas. Guess you're the one Alex set me up with?" *Before they can speak I move to take my seat on the opposite side of the booth.* ___ Thoughts: `Why are they so excited?
